Join SPES on our monthly Bird Count to support the collection of baseline data to monitor the local bird biodiversity in Stanley Park. The checklists will also be submitted to eBird as part of Global Big Day. Alongside the SPES Team Leader and other volunteers, you’ll improve your bird identification and bird watching skills in a fun and supportive environment.
The number of folks deriving pleasure from watching birds in their yards is increasing exponentially, and with it, the desire to know more about these incredible creatures. With at least three decades of experience in teaching ornithology, feeding and writing about backyard bird biology, Dr. David M. Bird will provide answers for new and aspiring backyard bird enthusiasts.
Led by species-at-risk biologist Kimberly Dohms, this walk will introduce you to the birds found at Queen Elizabeth Park, territory of the səl̓ilwətaɁɬ təməxʷ, Skwxwú7mesh-ulh, S’ólh, and šxʷməθkʷəy̓əmaɁɬ Peoples. See birds like Anna’s hummingbirds, northern flickers, and red-breasted nuthatches while meeting new people and sharing in the outdoors.
