Building Bird Friendly Cities
Located along the Pacific Flyway, over 250 species of resident, migratory, and over-wintering birds are regularly observed in the region. Urban Centers pose a myriad of threats to birds, but our urban design choices can make cities areas where birds can thrive!
Nature Canada administers a bird-friendly city certification program. Vancouver, Victoria, and Lions Bay are the only municipalities in British Columbia that qualify for the certification.
While there are many ways we can work together to protect birds from the threats of urban environments, we’ve identified three key areas where you can take action in your life to protect our resident and migratory birds this world migratory bird day.
