In this course presented by the Vancouver Avian Research Centre (VARC), you will go in-depth into Bird ID, learning essential foundations such as bird features, behaviours, topography, moulting, and field marks.

The instructors’ team from VARC will introduce bird songs and the categories of vocalization and bird habitats. You will graduate from this program with a list of equipment, resources, and actions you can take to protect and identify our beloved feathered friends and bring your birding skills to the next level.

Pre-registration is required. When signing up for the Bird ID Program, you automatically permit the Vancouver Botanical Gardens Association to share your e-mail address with the Vancouver Avian Research Centre to send you notifications specifically related to the course.

This five-session series will occur online on Tuesdays, starting on May 2 and concluding on May 30. Recordings will be available for a limited time to participants.

In addition, participants are encouraged to practice their new skills with ONE free admission to VanDusen Botanical Garden on Saturday, June 3rd for a self-guided birdwatching tour. (Birdwatching Hot Spots in the Garden map will be provided.)
